Mo Bento!

Second attempt at bento, this time with a little hello kitty decor thrown in. This is a real work in progress type of thing as I still have a long way to go before any thing like this-

More fantastic bentos like the one above and other awesomeness created by Anna the Red can be found here.

Mine is lame in comparison but I am VERY much enjoying the process of learning to create new things :)

More annoying food related posts to come as this blog is to focus on all of my MANY obsessions. Some juicy cosplay features coming soon!

Oh Bento!

Some excellent examples of Bento featuring Studio Ghibli characters.

I have been obsessed with these for a long time. I have recently begun acquiring the tools to create some of my own. I created my first box this morning, although it lacks the decorative aspect it wins in the tasty department!!
Edamame, seaweed chips, tamagoyaki (delish egg) and tsukune (yummy glazed "chicken nuggets").

The majority of the recipes I used can be found here.

The Fictional Feast

Ever wonder what those pumpkin pasties Harry, Ron and Hermione were always eating tasted like? Maybe you have always been curious about the Ent Draught quaffed by Merry and Pippin in The Two Towers?
Chelsea Monroe-Cassel has taken the descriptions of various foods found in literature and created recipes based on those descriptions, sometimes adapting historical recipes in the process. So much geek win here, so I strongly advise one to check it out! http://www.foodthroughthepages.com

I will be making these...

Aunt Marilla's plum puffs from the Anne of Green Gables series. Loved the books and even the movies as a kid!

If this site isn't enough awesome for you, she also has two others www.gameofbrews.com historical and fictional brewing, with a focus on Game of Thrones and www.innatthecrossroads.com a food blog dedicated to Game of Thrones eats.

Voyager

Currently embarking on a Star Trek Voyager marathon on Netflix. I watched this show pretty religiously when it was on the air, and for awhile in the late 90's it seemed like it was ALWAYS on in syndication. Haven't seen an episode in 10 years or more and 6 episodes into season one I must say it is still holding up well for me! I cannot help a certain partiality for this female dominated Trek incarnation.
The husband doesn't  share my love so I may have to watch some Sons of Anarchy, just to be fair :)

So come November 22nd through 24th, I will be here!!
My first REAL convention as I do not count Armadillo Con, it was YEARS ago and I only went to stalk Neil Gaiman. I intend to cosplay all 3 days in something different and I have a list of autographs and photo ops that I *need* to get while I am there. Shatner is definitely at the top of my list, along with Jewel Staite (Firefly), James Marsters and Juliet Landau of Buffy fame and a Boondock Saints photo op with Reedus and Flannery is a must!! Did I forget Bruce Campbell, NO I DIDN'T, him too. All for the low low price of several hundreds of dollars *boo*hiss* I do already have my ticket for a photo op with this sexy beast

I realize one picture would have sufficed, but in my world there can never be enough Reedus. I have actually used his appearance at Wizard Con to lure my sister down to Texas for a boozy lost weekend with me!!! If we do nothing else at Con but wear something fun/crazy and meet our mutual dreamboat I will consider it a roaring success :)

Want it Wednesday: Star Wars edition

This amazing reversible wookie jacket from www.awesomstufftobuy.com
Unfortunately my short stature would mean that most people would mistake me for an ewok...

This rogue squadron hooded tank from www.heruniverse.com
Lots of drool worthy stuff for all types of fangirls :)

 Like this :)
I am also very fond of www.thinkgeek.com
For many reasons, like the above lunch box, ( I collect metal ones.)
 Or this purse of awesomeness.
Maybe this dress of adorableness. No more shopping on the internets for me today.

This blog exists because I have more obsessions than I have hours in the day. Yet somehow I remain gainfully employed...
