Mo Bento!

Second attempt at bento, this time with a little hello kitty decor thrown in. This is a real work in progress type of thing as I still have a long way to go before any thing like this-

More fantastic bentos like the one above and other awesomeness created by Anna the Red can be found here.

Mine is lame in comparison but I am VERY much enjoying the process of learning to create new things :)

More annoying food related posts to come as this blog is to focus on all of my MANY obsessions. Some juicy cosplay features coming soon!

Oh Bento!

Some excellent examples of Bento featuring Studio Ghibli characters.

I have been obsessed with these for a long time. I have recently begun acquiring the tools to create some of my own. I created my first box this morning, although it lacks the decorative aspect it wins in the tasty department!!
Edamame, seaweed chips, tamagoyaki (delish egg) and tsukune (yummy glazed "chicken nuggets").

The majority of the recipes I used can be found here.

The Fictional Feast

Ever wonder what those pumpkin pasties Harry, Ron and Hermione were always eating tasted like? Maybe you have always been curious about the Ent Draught quaffed by Merry and Pippin in The Two Towers?
Chelsea Monroe-Cassel has taken the descriptions of various foods found in literature and created recipes based on those descriptions, sometimes adapting historical recipes in the process. So much geek win here, so I strongly advise one to check it out! http://www.foodthroughthepages.com

I will be making these...

Aunt Marilla's plum puffs from the Anne of Green Gables series. Loved the books and even the movies as a kid!

If this site isn't enough awesome for you, she also has two others www.gameofbrews.com historical and fictional brewing, with a focus on Game of Thrones and www.innatthecrossroads.com a food blog dedicated to Game of Thrones eats.
